WTCI MISSION STATEMENT

WTCI, serving the 35 counties of the Tennessee Valley, exists to serve the public good and to aid in the creation of an informed citizenry. Through quality programming using new technologies and community outreach, WTCI fulfills the needs of individuals for education, information, and culture enabling people and communities to connect, to grow, and to lead more fulfilling lives. WTCI educates, informs and enriches lives.

AFFILIATIONS:

PBS (Public Broadcasting Service)

PBS is a private-nonprofit corporation whose members are the 346 noncommercial stations serving the US, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa. Of those stations, 52% are community organizations, 31% are colleges and universities, 11% are state authorities and 6% are local municipal authorities. PBS does not produce programs; PBS distributes programs obtained from member stations such as WEDU, independent producers, and producers and distributors from around the world.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967. The mission of CPB is to facilitate the development of, and ensure universal access to, non-commercial high-quality programming and telecommunications services. It does this in conjunction with non-commercial educational telecommunications licensees across America.

Association of America's Public Television Stations

The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) is a nonprofit membership organization established in 1980 to support the continued growth and development of a strong and financially sound noncommercial television service for the American public. APTS provides advocacy for public television interests at the national level, as well as consistent leadership and information in marshaling support for its members: the nation's public television stations. APTS' affiliated organization, APTS Action, Inc., provides legislative advocacy and seeks grassroots and congressional support.

National Education Telecommunications Association

The National Educational Telecommunications Association is a professional association that serves public television licensees and educational entities in all 50 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. We serve by connecting people and ideas, by providing quality programming, educational resources, professional development, management support, and national representation.
