Produced locally by WTCI-TV (PBS), Southern Accents with Karen Elliott highlights the best of what our region has to offer for couples and families. With twenty years on the air, Southern Accents has garnered mulitple Emmy nominations and has introduced viewers to the culture, beauty, and history that makes the South unique.

First we discover how studio glass artists are inspired by sealife with visits to the Tennessee Aquarium and the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga.


First we enjoy the natural wonders at Rock City Gardens near Chattanooga. Then we tap our toes to a free concert at the Blue Plate Special in Knoxville

We begin at Lookout Mountain Flight Park where thousands learn to hangglide. Next we visit a man who raises beautiful koi. Birmingham's contribution to iron production is detailed at Sloss Furnaces Historic landmark


We begin at Blue Bird in Lafayette, Georgia, where school buses are made. Next we visit a western North Carolina couple who've found some interesting uses for kudzu. Miss Myra's Pit Barbecue in Birmingham delights guests with their wonderful barbecue in white sauce.  


In this episode of Southern Accents, we visit Andersonville National Historic Site and the Prisoner of War Museum. Next, we marvel at the miniature recreations built by just one man at the Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman, Alabama.
