WTCI PBS, the Tennessee Valley’s PBS member station, today announced the appointment of Shaun Townley as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Townley steps into the leadership role as Bob Culkeen departs the station to pursue a new leadership opportunity as Executive Director and General Manager of WFSU Public Media in Tallahassee, Florida, a position that’s closer to family.
“With a dedicated 19-year tenure at WTCI PBS, Townley brings an understanding of the evolving public media landscape and the vital role the station plays in our community,” said David Martin, Chair of the WTCI PBS Board of Directors. “In recent years, Townley has supported the executive decision-making processes that have strengthened WTCI’s financial and operational foundation through a pandemic and a congressional rescission.”
"I am incredibly honored to lead WTCI PBS during this time of transition," said Townley. "Our recent success is due in no small part to the vision of Bob Culkeen. We wish him all the best in his next adventure. The imagination and resilience of our outstanding team is something to celebrate. Together, we will continue to provide our community with programs and services that educate, engage, and inspire a lifetime of learning."
